UP TO 300 construction jobs will be created as part of a €16m expansion of the landmark Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, Ireland’s most-visited fee-paying tourist attraction.
The plan will see the Gravity Bar doubling in size, with capacity for 500 people at any one time. That’s being achieved by directly linking a new 360 degree panoramic space to the Gravity Bar.
The Guinness Storehouse and the existing Gravity Bar, which have attracted over 16 million visitors since 2000, will remain open as normal during the construction period.
Subject to planning permission, construction will commence next year and will welcome visitors by 2019.
“Staying ahead of the game, innovating and constantly investing has enabled us to provide a world-class experience of one of Ireland’s most iconic brands with huge international demand,” Paul Carty, managing director of the Guinness Storehouse, said.
The Guinness Storehouse Hub, a new facilities building directly beside the Storehouse, will provide more space for the archives detailing the company’s brewing history. It is expected that between 250 and 300 people will be employed during the construction phase.
The company confirmed that it has no plans for a Guinness hotel in the area.
